When visiting Palm Springs, CA you may notice a unique frosty treat being offered at various establishments: the date shake!
The date comes from the date palm, a tree native to the Middle East and Northern Africa. The climate of the low California desert, however, is perfectly suited for date farming and for years dates have been grown and harvested right near Palm Springs, making the date shake a sought-after snack for tourists and locals alike.
We tried a date shake from Palm Springs Fudge and Chocolate on Palm Canyon Dr. The shake was made with a blend of French vanilla ice cream and scoops of sticky, thick sweet date puree. The result was luscious in texture and bursting with rich, fruity honey-like flavor which complimented the vanilla perfectly!
