Clark Candy Bar: BEST OF AMERICA'S SNACKS
We are taking a bite out of America's best snack foods!
Milk chocolate peanut butter crunch bar, Clark, was "pioneered by Irish immigrant David L. Clark in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1886." Over the years it has changed ownership several times but since 1999 it has been produced by candy giant Necco. What's interesting about Clark candy bar is that it is known for not being distributed west of the Mississippi River, making it a rare and quite unique American candy bar. The flavor is very similar to a Butterfinger, but Clark has a lovely, subtle bitterness to it that is probably the result of molasses as an ingredient. The crispy peanut butter center is still sweet and buttery, however, and is the perfect compliment to the American style milk chocolate coating.
We love this chunk of delicious Americana and recommend you try it if you happen to cross its path.
