Polli's Mexican Restaurant, Makawao, Maui, Hawaii

If you ever find yourself in Maui, Hawaii, hop in a Jeep and make the drive to discover Makawao. Makawao is a quaint, scenic town nestled in the uphills of Maui. Known for its cowboys and rich farmland, Makawao is the kind of place you want to wander around and get lost in. After strolling by the charming shops, make sure you stop by Polli's Mexican Restaurant for some fresh Mexican home-cooking.

Open since 1981, Polli's is a delightful little restaurant known for its mouthwatering, down-home south-of-the-border vittles. We started with some of Polli's Chips and Salsa which came with a mix of flour and corn tortilla chips and homemade salsa. The chips were perfectly salted and crisp and tasted wonderful with the salsa which was bursting with flavor. We washed it all down with some ice cold, sweet 'n' tangy margaritas. The meal was off to a perfect start!

Next we indulged in some spicy Jalapeño Poppers which were stuffed with gooey cheese, breaded and fried and served with cool ranch dressing and guacamole. We loved this dish!

For the main event we ordered the Seafood Enchilada Dinner which came with two flour tortillas stuffed with sautéed shrimp and ono (wahoo fish), topped with creamy Monterey jack cheese sauce and served with guacamole, Mexican rice and cheesy refried beans. Not only was this dish beautiful to behold but it tasted outstanding as well. WOW! The piping hot cheese sauce was delectable with a hint of white wine flavor that complimented the fresh seafood hiding inside. The rice and beans were scrumptious as well and the fresh guacamole brightened up the entire dish.

We were so stuffed after our amazing meal at Polli's and we were sad to leave knowing that it would be a long time before we can eat there again. This was hands down one of the best meals we've had in Hawaii!
