Wendy's Crispy Dill Chicken Sandwich: NEW FAST FOOD!

We love the summery taste of dill, but it's rarely if ever seen on fast food menus. That's why we were impressed to hear that Wendy's had rolled out a new "Right Price Right Size Menu" item that features dill. Wendy's new Crispy Dill Chicken Sandwich comes piled high with sour dill pickle chips, fresh lettuce, white cheese and a "refreshing cucumber dill sauce."

The sandwich was tasty and we enjoyed eating it. But overall, the flavors were a bit confused. The addition of cheese was a head scratcher as it detracted from the "refreshing dill" effect. In fact, we wish there was more dill flavor. The dill pickle chips were the strongest flavor in the sandwich, but it was the vinegar taste of the pickles that came through more so than the dill. We were most excited for the cucumber dill sauce, which was certainly one of the better components of the sandwich, but it severely lacked in dill flavor and the taste of cucumber was nonexistent.

We much prefer McDonald's Southern Style Chicken Sandwich which has only "southern style" fried chicken breast, dill pickle chips and melted butter. If Wendy's were to ditch the cheese, reduce the amount of pickles and amp up the cucumber dill sauce flavor, it would be a more successful product.

Wendy's Crispy Dill Chicken Sandwich is still pretty good, though. And at $1.49, it's worth giving it a try, especially if you're craving something a little different from fast food.
